This tool is designed to do 2 things:
- Shatter tempered glass (side windows of most cars & trucks and rear windows of most cars)
- Cut seat belts
Place it where you’ll find it after severe impact or rollover.
Suggested locations:
- Ignition key ring
- Attached to the gearshift with a hair tie
- Ashtray (depending on design)
- Turn signal or wiper levers (older vehicles may also use radio/heater/light knobs)
- Not recommended: Glove box, open tray, cup holder, or door pocket
How to Use
Window Punch
- Press firmly on a bottom corner or edge of the window until you hear a click. The glass will shatter into small pebble-sized pieces.
- Close your eyes when breaking glass. If possible, place a coat or blanket between you and the glass.
- Use tools—not bare hands—to clear broken glass. Adhesive tape can help remove glass shards from skin.
- Will NOT work on laminated glass (windshields, most pickup rear windows, some luxury side windows).
- If underwater, expect rapid water entry once glass breaks.
- Breaking glass in high water conditions may theoretically compromise windshield stability.
Seat Belt Cutter
- If upright, cut close to the buckle (use buckle release if accessible).
- If on side or roof, cut at the shoulder anchor while holding the belt for controlled release.
- The cutter works best when the belt is under tension.
- Avoid routine cutting to prevent dulling the blade.
